Congratulations on your decision to get married through the Catholic Church! Marriage is one of the seven sacraments instituted by Christ in which God unites man and woman in a sacred life-long commitment founded on permanence, faithfulness and openness to life. We are dedicated to helping our parishioners have a memorable wedding, but more importantly, a blessed marriage. These guidelines will summarize what steps need to be taken to assure that you are both well prepared for this sacred union.
Requirement to receive the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony:
– One man and one woman who are free from any bonds
— If married before, must produce certificate of annulment or certificate of death of former spouse
– One member must be a baptized Catholic
— If living outside of the territory of our parish, need to get Letter of Delegation from priest in your area
— The baptized Catholic needs to provide a newly issued & sealed copy of his/her baptismal certificate
– Complete a Prenuptial Investigation to ensure that there are no obstacles to your future marriage
– Testimony of Witnesses of Couple’s Freedom to Marry
– Completion of Diocesan Marriage Preparation Program
– Participation in at least four Parish Marriage Preparation Courses with the pastor
Steps to Plan for the Sacrament of Matrimony
Pray – with one another and for one another
Meet with the pastor 6-12 months before you schedule any reception events
