Sacristans are charged with the caring for and preparing both the Altar and the sacred vessels used at each Liturgy.  Sacristans must be baptized, practicing Catholics and members of Sacred Heart Parish to perform this duty.

• Time Commitment: It requires time before and after Mass for set up and clean up. Amount of time, depends on which Mass you are scheduled. Maximum time would be 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after Mass.
• Responsibilities: Sacristans care for the bread and wine, paten, ciborium, cups and other items needed for the celebration of the Eucharist.
• Training: Training is required and provided upon joining.  Since this ministry occurs outside of the Liturgy, volunteers can participate in another ministry during Mass, such as Lector or Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.
